new player, loving the game, but some doubts arise

I have recently started playing this game. Have the core revised game, which is cool and just got hold of some expansions. Coming with the experience of playing the game, I felt the need to build custom decks. I know the question is probably way too noobish and I might know the answer, but still feel like i need validation.

Should I mix and match cards from the different expansions and play the initial quests from the core game?

Especially cause I want to play solo with Spirit and Lore Sphere of Influence and it seems to lack some ally that can turn the tide in combat.
