So I got into this game with the revised core. I picked up that and all 4 starter decks. I also picked up the complete Shadows of Mirkwood cycle as well as the complete Haradrim cycle while they were still relatively easy to find (only had to buy Dead Marshes, Return to Mirkwood and Crossing of Poros on eBay, the rest I got for market price)
I got into the game after playing Arkham/MC because I heard that it was more of a puzzle game that would test my deckbuilding skills which was really exciting to me since I love deckbuilding and have played card games my whole life.
Anyway so I was a bit disappointed playing through the entire core dark of Mirkwood shadows of Mirkwood quests with both a modified version of the Dwarves and Elves starter decks as I felt it was waaay to easy. I think I only lost once or twice (once to my first playthrough of Rhosgubul due to the surprise ending that can just kill you)
I did tweak my decks, sometimes heavily (for Return to Mirkwood) but overall it didn’t feel like it was really pushing my deckbuilding skillls.
So I was buying some MC stuff on Gamezenter and decided to check what nightmare decks they had in stock and lo and behold they had the nightmare deck for Passage through Mirkwood. I decided to pick it up to see what they were like since it’s the first one made and also that quest being a tutorial quest is pretty boring so I thought it would be nice to make it more of a actual quest.
It completely stomped into the pavement. Like demolished me. It was a great time I’m now reinvigorated and can’t wait to play it over and over until I figure out how to beat it!
10/10 would get destroyed by a nightmare pack again.
