Who/Where censored will smith

TL;DR:

Someone censored ā€œMama Say Mama Sa Mama Coosa" in Will Smithā€™s Gettin Jiggy wit It. The version we have all known for years is edited at around 1 min 16 seconds (https://youtu.be/3JcmQONgXJM?t=76). Proof of this is that a handful of remixes have an UNEDITED version of this song, and when sung live the lyrics ā€œMama Say Mama Sa Mama Coosa are heard/used.ā€

Here are the versions I have found with some help that maintain the original lyrics. I have yet to find an ORIGINAL VERSION of the studio recording of the song (not remixed) that maintains the unedited lyrics.

Original Mashup I believe I heard on reddit that brought this to my attention:

Daft Punk vs Will Smith : Get Lucky Gettin Jiggy Wit It ( X Mix Mash Up )

A video uploaded in November 2022. The So SO Def mix of the song contains the lyrics unedited. Note, that aside from this being a recent upload as of this posting, it is still not the original song unedited which we believe exists out there (more below).

Another remix I know nothing about:

Live from 2005:

https://youtu.be/TeKRp3wQyQk?t=188

With that in mind, let's begin.

The Goal:

Find an unatlered/uncensored STUDIO VERSION of Gettinā€™ Jiggy wit It with the lyrics ā€œMama Say Mama Sa Mama Coosa' ' being sung. Not a remixed version.

Why was it censored?:

Unclear. Possible fear of being sued by Michale Jackson or whomever had the musical rights to the phrase ā€œMama Say Mama Sa Mama Coosa" in 1996 ish. Royalties may have been needed as a result of this segment being in the song. Yet, somewhere it seems someone printed copies with these lyrics intact.

The assumption:

The uncensored version of this song exists in Western Europe on certain prints of Big Willie Style and/or possibly the single for Gettinā€™ Jiggy Wit It. Other regions that are NON US may also have it.

However, I have been unable to find any such copy uploaded online.

Why is it a mystery or interesting?

Gettinā€™ Jiggy wit It was released in 1997 on the Album Big Willie Style. The album has many releases and versions. Most of the play the song sees contain this odd bit of censoring. In general, I find music censorship interesting. What is most interesting in this case is that this was and or still is an extremely popular song. To boot, most people, myself included until recently, do not even realize it is censored.

The song reached number one in the US, Canada and 2 in the UK. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gettin'_Jiggy_wit_It). The remixes seem to have a STUDIO VERSION of Will Smith singing those lyrics ā€œMama Say Mama Sa Mama Coosa.ā€ With that much widespread exposure, how hard could it be to find a random upload somewhere of the version that has the lyrics in it?

The search

Doing the search brings up results I consider wonky. It becomes infuriating, trying to find something so seemingly simple. Above I linked the only 3 instances I can find online of a studio audio of Will Smith singing ā€œMama Say Mama Sa Mama Coosa". However, none of those are the original mix. Is it possible that the sample from Up all night to get Jiggy is taken from the So So Def mix? I do not believe so, it doesn't sound quite right.

With that in mind, as stated before, I believe a UK vinyl holds the unaltered studio version. Why? Because the remix of Up all night/Jiggy was done by a French artist. However, in looking at French Tv show clips online, and what I can find of other rips from French copies (CDā€™s or cassette) I have yet to hear an unaltered version.

Iā€™ve reached out to the artists who did the remixes, no reply as of yet.

Here are some odd things I took note of while searching:

In live versions of the song, he seems to always sing this part. However, his tone is a bit deeper than the one we here in remixes when sung live.

Non US upload that use the censored version:

Netherlands Dance show using the censored version. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Da26uENhUzY)

Random Slavic cover band who sing the censored version for some reason

Ellen Degenris cuts off right before the part that is censored starts:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYnGRRda5vY

That is about all I have for now, I will add more if I can later or find any updates.
