Iām not an AP/LP, but Iām part of that general department at a major retailer. This happened just moments ago.
A lady with 2 small kids kept walking back and forth ālooking for her momā. She had 2 large totes in her cart but nothing else. I noticed this woman from across the store without really paying much attention (just doing a quick sweep of the area with my eyes).
As I took a step towards the AP office door to see if someone was in there, I saw one of the AP associates walk in the same direction as the woman, and āstop to look at some towels on an end capā. He glanced at me and gave a half nod, then kept moving.
So, I stayed by the GM doors in case she tried to push out of those doors. No go, she tried to skip scan by having everything stuffed in the totes and pay just for the totes at self check. She was stopped by the self check employee, and said all the other stuff āwas her momsā, but left it behind.
I got to help with the scanning/organization of everything afterwards... $750 recovery. Out of everything I do in my position, that kind of thing is my favorite part.
