TL;DR I've been big my whole life and never been able to keep weight off but I got 100 down and more to go!
I can't remember a time when I wasn't the "big guy". "Husky" when I was little and then "big Matt" in middle and high school it's been something I've dealt with my entire life. After getting out of high school and in to college it got really bad. I had been playing football in high school and working out a lot so my bad eating habits were concealed by the amount of lifting and running I was doing. After going to college I became lazy and lethargic and never went to class because I was embarrassed of what I had become. Throughout the years I had tried several diets that would work but I would always get to about the 300lb mark and stall and eventually fail. Looking back at those times I realized I was never making this change for myself, it was always for something and when that thing either was done or didn't pan out I reverted back to my old habits and gained it all back.
It was time to make a change and one for me and not for a relationship or a trip. In October of 2021 I started a CICO diet with the help of a program through a local university hospital. It's been great and I am enjoying this entire process. So many NSV have happened including donating so many bags of clothes and last week I even was able to fit on all the rides at a theme park for the first time in my adult life! I love reading the post here as they constantly give me motivation to keep going! I am on a little plateau right now but I'm not going to let that deter me from reaching my goals. This is the lowest I have weighed since early in high school!!
What was your diet and exercise like for those 6 months?
