We need some help with ideas to overcome our junk food addiction. Neither of us are actually overweight, we're both runners and would either run or be at the gym 4 times a week on average. However, neither of us are as slim or healthy as we'd like to be.
We went vegan (ethical reasons) 5 years ago and initially lost a bunch of weight and felt super healthy. There wasn't as much choice for vegan junk food back then so it was really a whole foods plant based diet that we ate.
Now there are so many vegan junk options everywhere. Even our local chinese takeaway does killer tofu curry. We're finding it hard to get back to whole foods and it's hurting our health and our wallets.
We rarely eat breakfast. Neither of us are hungry in the morning and personally I find if I eat breakfast I actually feel hungrier throughout the morning. I try to eat a small lunch and then we have a decent size meal together in the evening. Brown rice, brown pasta, tofu, lentils. Some fake meats/dairy. But we often go for calorie heavy sides/sauces.
If we plan a "healthy" dinner, we inevitably decided we don't like the sound of it and get a takeaway instead.
How do we cut down on the junk food? We enable each other when cravings strike.
