Howdy y'all! Recovering alcoholic here with a happy tale of weight-loss! I'll keep it short and simple if I can. I developed an alcohol problem over the last few years. Started with partying, then became something I did after work to help with stress, then a day off thing because it was my day off and I "deserved it", and eventually it turned into a few shots when I woke up to kill the shakes, a few more before work, 6-12 at work, and #? after work. Rinse and repeat. Was buying a handle of Svedka every day to every other day, about 4.5 handles a week average and drinking free booze at work (restaurant manager perks?). Anywho, back in November I decided enough was enough after trying to punch through a glass table (I've never been violent. Have no idea what went through my head other than straight vodka). Doctor told me I had high blood pressure, pre-diabetes, and was knocking on alcohol induced hepatitis door. HEPATITIS. AH! RIGHT?! After an intense detox that was basically vomiting, shaking, extreme anxiety, crying, and more shaking for a week I finally saw the light of sobriety and have been clean officially 99 days today!!!
Weight-loss was natural and quick at first after cutting out 3,000 calories a day of alcohol. To keep it going I cook 80% of the food I eat, and I avoid carbs and anything pre made. I load up every meal with as many veggies, fresh and frozen, as possible. Lately I've been using MyFitnessPal to keep between 1,200 and 1,400 calories a day. My next step it to start bouldering again, and work on building muscle in general so I don't have as much extra skin/flab in the future.
Sorry for the long ramble, here is what ya came here for! A dirty mirror and a slightly less chubby human :D
