Flying with a food scale?

I'm going to visit my boyfriend for the weekend and I'm only doing a gate side checked bag. I looked at TSA regulations and can't find anything about food scales. It's not a big deal if I have to leave it at home but I'm finding myself starting to slip into the "oh its just activity, it's no big deal if I don't count it..." and I would rather have it with me than not. But if they're going to confiscate it from my carry on then I won't even bother.
Has anyone ever done this before?
