Hey ladies! I have a question regarding period weight gain whilst dieting/working out. Help?

I've been doing Atkins/Keto since January 3rd. I quit smoking December 16th. I've been working out steadily for about 2 weeks now. Since January 3rd, I had lost 9 pounds. Until 3 days ago... My period started and I have been steadily gaining about a pound a day. This is extremely frustrating. I weigh myself at the same time every morning and it's gotten a little discouraging watching the weight climb when I am working so hard.

My question is: Whilst dieting and working out, do you find you gain weight no matter what when Aunt Flo comes to visit? Does it go away when your period ends? And how can I avoid this next month?

EDIT1: drank my veggie smoothie last night and I am down half a pound. Period also ended yesterday, so I'm crossing my fingers that the "extra" drops as well.

After doing some research, I also found that starting weight training could be contributing to the gain.
