I've been trying to lose a little weight I put on for years now, and that little compounded with a little more and so on. I bought a gym membership prepaid for a year, didn't go because the gym was a few too many subway stops away (my monthly pass to work made that travel free as well). My bike's tires look worn, I can't start working out now. I've got enough for bad food but not for my gym membership. It's only one pant size. This shirt shrunk in the wash. This is just a little weight and it'll go away soon because I really don't eat that much.
Well starting in January, I signed up for a gym that lowers its cost the more frequently you go. That motivated me to go every day before work. I then slowly rolled in eating a little healthier, hiding healthy food at my friends place so I wouldn't run across to the McDonalds. I went from wheezing and dying on the treadmill after 10 minutes to being able to run a 5k comfortably. I did this all in anticipation for the Color Run coming up in June. My friends signed up so I thought it would be best if I was in shape for it, instead of dying 5 minutes in and performing my own take on the walk of shame.
Well thanks to a mixup, I didn't register for the race before it sold out. And normally that means I would say, oh well, next year and grab some cake. Instead I started asking around for other races that I can plan ahead for and put on my calendar. I went back to the gym the next day and tried to beat yesterdays time. And when my friends wanting to hang out interferes with going to the gym, I go in the middle of the night and deal with the lack of sleep for work. I've been watching what I eat, and ditched soda for water/carbonated water/crystal light. Really not a monumental life change but I feel amazing.
In fact, I feel better than I have in years, I'm sleeping soundly and eating properly is much easier than I thought it would be. While I've only lost a little weight and have a way to go, I'm more proud of the fact that I've lost the excuses.

TL:DR Actually stopped coming up with excuses for not getting in shape, and just did it.
