Sorry, terrible title I know.. but...
I'm hoping you guys could help me with this one. "If you want to lose fat, a useful guideline for lowering your calorie intake is to reduce your calories by at least 500, but not more than 1000 below your maintenance level. For people with only a small amount of weight to lose, 1000 calories will be too much of a deficit. As a guide to minimum calorie intake, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) recommends that calorie levels never drop below 1200 calories per day for women or 1800 calories per day for men. Even these calorie levels are quite low."
Now my BMR is 2060, if I put in light sed. @ 1.2 I get around 2400. That just seems like a lot just to stay at my current weight. I've been staying steady at around 218/220 for a while, now back in the game and making the final push to where I want to be. I'm hitting around 1400 a day and not seeing a lot of difference right now, doing HIIT 3x a week, trying to make the time to push that activity level up further. But I'm, confused by the above statement (http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/harris-benedict-equation/calorie-intake-to-lose-weight.php) . If I'm taking in less and working out, I should be losing right? I'm also trying to hit 80 grams of protein to try and maintain muscle as much as possible. I do need to and am working on drinking more water, I'm bad at that, I'm also taking Creatine to try and improve recovery times, the HIIT sessions are hard on the muscles!
Anyway, I'm hoping some of you can help me make sense of the above statement, are they just saying that so that people still take in the nutrients they need and drop safely, or can taking in too little actually slow down weightloss (I'm not talking "starvation mode" ;) ).
Thanks
