My friends and I have been doing an annual girl’s trip getaway for 4 years and one of the activities we include is a hike. In previous years, I’d embarrassingly have to ask for breaks and to slow things down when we would get to a point of steep inclines. They’re always of course super accommodating and patient. This year, after having lost 95 lbs, I did not need to make them stop or slow down. In fact, I was ahead of the pack and it felt like so easy and manageable. I am so focused on losing the last 55 lbs that I forget how far I’ve come, but it was nice to see the improvement in my fitness so transparently on an activity I’d have dreaded last year. I actually really like hiking now and can focus on the scenery since I’m not busy catching my breath.
