I'm working on a bit of lore involving Leviathans. The issue I'm having stems from not being able to define what a Leviathan is within my world. For you guys I'll try to explain and maybe you can help me refine my definition and help me expand on their lore...
For starters the Leviathans are obscure and rarely mentioned in book or song, they are not tied to one plane of existence or another but would rather move in the spaces between the planes. They are not gods, but they are godlike in the sense that they cannot be killed, and exist simply because they can't not exist...
Before I get too confusing I'll give you an example on the one Leviathan I have completed (I'm shooting for eight, and have two but I'll take what I can get)
My example is Qendadda (Ken-da-ta) Leviathan of Lost Souls. Qendadda, exists as a ruler over all that is lost, everything from the rogues favorite dagger thrown hap-hazardously at an enemy to the blacksmiths daughter who wandered off the trail and can't find her way back, Qendadda's influence isn't limited to physical objects either, every bit of lore lost to history, every new technology destroyed because it wasn't understood, every secret whispered and forgotten since time was time is known to Qendadda.
Physically he resembles a great iridescent snake, with two large clawed arms, a great sail like fin runs from his shoulders down to two thirds from the end of his tail. His head is square and draconic with one single enormous amber eye that takes up the entirety of the top of his head. In total he stretches several km long. Very few have ever seen him, and even fewer have been found after seeing him. Only those who are lost in a most extreme sense have seen Qendadda, The Leviathan of Lost Souls
The only other Leviathan I have been able.to give an attribute to would be a Leviathan of Enlightenment, knowing the why as opposed to the how of all things (how being knowledge and thus under the domain of the god of knowledge) and has the ability to see all possibilities of every action at once, his is the understanding of the universe...
If you've read this and it makes sense to you I'd love some help creating other leviathans to rule over abstract concepts as well as a way to help others understand what a Leviathan is in my world
