Anyone tried the new Vortex Razor HD LHT 4.5-22x50 FFP?
Post Body

Looks like it was introduced back in August but I haven't seen it mentioned here.

Pros:

  • 21.7oz
  • First Focal Plane
  • Zero stop/locking elevation turret
  • Christmas tree reticle

Cons:

  • 30mm tube/only 22.4 mils total elevation travel.
  • Can only get 11.5 mils total evelvation travel when using the zero stop feature
  • Turrets are 6 mils per revolution

PRICE: $1500 on the street

It's geared toward rifles that pull double duty hunting and target shooting. Will it unseat the PST II 5-25x as the go to for the Bergara HMR? I kinda doubt it at this price but it's an attractive scope for someone who wants better glass than a PST but doesn't want the weight of a Razor Gen II or similar scope.

I also think it could find a home on a gas gun since scope weight is a consideration too. There's just not a lot of lightweight FFP scopes that have a Christmas tree reticle, especially with this much max magnification. I happened upon it searching for a scope to put on my SPR inspired AR build.

The main bummer for me is the zero stop limiting elevation travel to ~6 up/5.5 down. I wonder if zeroing with a 20MOA scope mount would allow for ~12up/0.5 down? I'd probably be fine with that.

Anyone use one yet?
