So I haven't done precision shooting for close to two decades. I am finally in a place in life where I can get my own rifle and get into it again. But tech has changed so much since I was last seriously shooting that I was hoping to get some input.
Currently there isn't a rifle I could probably out shoot. But I want to get something that gives me room in case I get back up to some decent skill. I am looking to get a .308 because it is relatively affordable and good out to around 800 yards. However I am also behind on my ballistics knowledge and not sure if that is a decent round for all around performance and cost.
Also looking at getting a Tikka t3, Kimber or even a Sako. But I have now had more than a few people tell me that none of these are good choices and I should go Savage or Ruger in the 500 dollar range. So basically as some one who is beyond rusty in their knowledge, help I am out of date on my info!
I have a set of nikon prostaff optics that I was going to use early on while I got my accuracy back up and tuned reloaded rounds, before I get a nicer set of optics. For that I was looking at vortex and leupold primarily.
Basically I would love your guys input since I am a bit clueless with all these new choices.
