Has anyone noticed in all of the crime threads recently a sudden uptick in posts that are shilling a ton of repetitive, specific political buzzwords?
I've (embarassingly) gotten into not less than a few arguments this week with folks who insist on repeatedly using the term "migrant" over and over again. For anyone living under a rock, "migrant crime" is one of the top republican talking point buzz words this election, and it's common in their material that is handed out to their phone bankers / door knockers. I scoped out a few of the accounts, and many were created within the past couple days. They have suspiciously specific profiles identifying their persona. It's exactly the sort of thing I saw our PR team do back in my ads days when we were astro-turfing products.
For example, check out u/StuyBoyNYC. Not approved, not e-mail verified. Profile:
"StuyBoy from NYC. My opinions solely my own. I am neither left or right, but happily in the center, with my own ideas of good and evil."
These accounts seem to get heavily downvoted by actual community members, then a few hours later have a magic influx of upvotes turning them positive again. Not sure if the mods have any tools they can use to try and look into this, but just comes off crazy suspicious to me.
There definitely is more migrant crime. I live close by some of the migrant shelters and there have been incidents
