I'm a male in my late 30s and moved to LIC this month and I finally live in a building with a gym, but I'm out of shape and don't know how to the weights. For some reason, LIC seems like a good place to get fit because I have seen a lot of active people since I moved here. But I don't know where to start.
I'm wondering if there are any weight lifting groups or fitness groups I can join to learn more. Because I am also trying to build community and make friends. It seems a lot more fun to learn how to get into shape in a group environment for the encouragement and conversation and to have someone spot you etc. I'm also interested in grappling / Muay Thai.
I know that most people would go to a personal trainer for something like this - and I'm open to that if you have any recommendations - but am also looking for a community environment or meetup or club where I can bond with others and encourage each other.
Anything like that in LIC?
