Long Islanders who refuse to move off the island... why?
Post Body

I moved off the island almost a decade ago and it was honestly the best thing I've ever done with my life. I cannot express how much calmer, healthier, less annoyed with everything, how much I complain less about things. How much I just feel like my overall quality of life has changed. Now, I'm not saying everyone should leave the island.. I get that some like it. What I don't understand though, is folks who CLEARLY could be happier elsewhere, why you still stay?
Example, - being a teacher, police officer, working for a town, or LIRR - those jobs are hands down some of the best you're going to find, and you're only going to find them on LI. So that makes sense. Though, like, someone working at Best Buy? Target? or anything that's not a nepotistic hiring process - that same job exists else where. Not too far away from the Island even.
In no way am I attacking or shaming anything just curious as to why ya'll stay? ( obvious reasons aside too like. it's expensive to move lol )

EDIT_ not sure why, but some of you are saying you SHOULD move, or I'm better - I don't care what anyone does with their lives. Do you. I'm not better than anyone other than who I was yesterday. I was just genuinely looking for a conversation.
