What do young people DO here?

Hi all! Moved to Long Island somewhat recently from the city, and I just wanna know where I can meet more people my age (I'm 18) and what young people do for fun! I drove around the area of Malverne and the South Shore, but didn't find much to do besides going to the beach.
I've heard about chilling at the mall, but what else do people here do besides that? Any fun places or activities? Events? Clubs??? WHERE do I meet friends!?
