So first off Hello to the subreddit!
When I was a kid and teenager I went to a private Christian school that required boys to cut their hair. I've always loved rock and when I became 16 I realized how much I adored metal. I asked my principal why the school required haircuts for men and she gave an answer talking about how when students look better they perform better, as if my long hair was a detriment to my looks and performance.
When I graduated I didn't care much for haircuts and then I had to get a cut for a job interview (per my Dad's advice), and I fucking hated it. I hated my hair being so short.
Ever since then I've viewed my hair as not only a part of my appearance but a part of my identity and freedom. If any cuts my hair I would have a mental breakdown.
I genuinely think if I had to choose between my job and my hair I would choose my hair.
To sum it up I believe hair shouldn't be dismissed as just an appearance thing, it's a part of our psychology and our identity. It's a part of what makes us human. We shouldn't dismiss that.
I put hair victory only because discussion wasn't an option.
