I’ve tried oils. Ayurvedic oils for before wash, lightweight organic oils for after a wash, oils on my scalp, oils on my hair, oils on wet hair, oils on dry hair, oils on damp hair, etc. But I have no scalps conditions, and oils (even a tiny bit) on my hair alternate between showing no difference and making my hair feel crispy/crunchy.
My question is: Are oils truly necessary to grow long hair? My hair doesn’t feel dry without them, and I’m currently at a few inches from waist length. But every time a girl with gorgeous hair is asked what she uses in this forum, oils always seem to be part of her answer. Honestly, the only thing that seems to positively affect my hair (coarse, low porosity) are sulfates and silicones, which is why I still use them. But do I HAVE to use oils to get my hair past this length?
Thanks in advance!
I have very thick hair and I use oil every night. I really love the OGX coconut penetrating oil, I brush it through the lengths and braid it. I also put the same oil on when I let my hair dry (air dry always)
