I thought I made a friend on Reddit. He seemed cool at first, but then started acting weird and rude. I ignored the red flags, which I now realize was a mistake. I usually send casual snaps to people, and I sent him one while I was at work. Unfortunately, my live location was visible in the snap. He took a screenshot, reported me, and lied to my job about it. My job called me today and asked me to come in to discuss it. Looking back, I realize I’ve made similar mistakes in relationships. While I try not to live with regret, I sometimes wish I had slowed down and gotten to know people better. I let loneliness and desperation guide my decisions, and it led to bad experiences. Here’s what I’ve learned: • Be cautious with who you let into your life. • Pay attention to red flags. • Don’t let loneliness make you ignore your boundaries. • At the same time, don’t close yourself off completely, just don’t be naive like I was. I’ve made a lot of mistakes, but I’m okay with that because it means I’m human. Life is about living, learning, and growing. To anyone reading this, I wish you the best and hope you find what you deserve in life.
Important note: Please do NOT message me if you’re on some weird stuff. I’ve had too many experiences where I opened up to people only to be ghosted or made to feel bad for being vulnerable. I’m not interested in fake people. If that’s you, don’t bother reaching out.
