It's upsetting how flippant and irreverent everyone is towards friendship compared to romantic relationships. I understand why that is given how much our culture tells us to value romantic/sexual relationships over platonic ones.
Personally, friendship has always felt more pure to me, comparatively. I'm being slightly tongue in cheek here, but if you're my friend, I'm not gonna make weird passive aggressive reddit posts about how you're not sexy anymore now that you've given birth. I'm not going to love you more or less because you became more or less attractive. You having sex with me isn't a precondition for me to like you. And we don't have to exactly or maybe even mostly agree on our lifestyle decisions for me to seriously care about you.
But people don't care. It's fine, just unfortunate.
Enjoy your friends while they're single. Lol
