Marvel at the Elgin Marbles,
Bask before all the Benin Bronze!
See statues which once encircled,
the Summer Palace's lawns!
It is the common pursuit of all curious souls, to seek the being behind the appearance, the noumena beneath the phenomena. The scientist sees the subtle patterns in her data, and daydreams the possibility of a unifying natural law -- just like how a mathematician sees through theorems, and yearns for the enlightenment of the demonstrative proof. Even the scholar, the reader, the gentle contemplative soul -- all find beauty in delving behind the skin of the world. And whether the method of your inquiry is through literature or the lab -- I find equal dignity in your efforts, and the possibility of love between our souls.
For what is love, other than the most concrete and personal of inquiries? Of finding commensuration between human souls? To love is to delve past the contingent, accidental nuances of society or circumstance, and achieve a communion of the mind. I want to fall for your mind. To lose myself in the corridors of your thinking, the gardens of your soul. I am attracted by good conversation, interesting ideas; and I cannot wait to meet your acquaintance, to explore the avenues of your thoughts.
And what better way to do that, than a cute, conversational visit -- a date at the British Museum!
Yes, I wrote that cute little intro-poem. And yes, I really do want to visit the Elgin marbles-- with you by my side!
I'm a 22 year old student, a lover of classics and literature -- someone who just landed in London, after spending the last four years in the United States. I'm a graduate of the Liberal Arts, having done my degree in both Philosophy and Classical studies. As you can tell, I am a voracious reader -- and I really enjoy writing too. I'm in the UK for further study in the Sciences, this is why I'm especially interested in meeting a Scientist or Academian with a background in STEM. Do let me know if you are a PhD or Doctoral candidate-- I plan on doing a PhD myself in the near future, and I'll be sure to pepper you with some questions!
Outside of reading, writing, and literature, I'm a enthusiastic hiker as well. I enjoy camping, going outdoors, and backpacking mountain trails. This summer I climbed the third tallest mountain in my native country. It's actually a fairly small mountain by international standards... but it was a fun expedition just the same! I love traveling, visiting, and foreign languages-- I speak three with fluency, and know just enough of a forth to get in trouble with it.
My love for language comes from this self-same curiosity and desire to understand. And I hope we'll partake in that same openness, curiosity, and warmth, when we go on our date at the British Museum.
So! Write to me, if you want to spend an afternoon in conversation, and marvel at the treasures of history and lore! To talk and walk by my side, as we peruse the most ancient of antiquities, browse the most storied of scenes! We can meet in the morning in a (London) coffeehouse of your choice, and get to know each other by the warmth of a hot beverage. And if things go well, head off to the museum and spend our day there.
I welcome both DMs and Messages. But I am most likely to reply to people who write a little about themselves, instead of just a quick and anonymous 'hi.' And of course, if you send me a long and well-written message, I will be sure to reply. I love long, well-written messages, and I always fall for those! :)
