Do you leave your pannier bag on its rack?

Just got myself a new £45 pannier bag from Rhino Walk. Before this, I had a £10 bag from Halfords. I’d comfortably leave that bag on the pannier rack when I was out and about (e.g. shopping, at the gym) but I’m terrified to do the same with my new bag.
Now it’s wet and rainy I don’t wanna keep taking it on and off the bike when I’m going about my biz. But also don’t want it to get stolen.
Is my concern warranted? What do you all do?
