best cycling club/ places to buy a bike?

thinking of doing an Ironman 70.3 but cycling really is not my strong suit - does anyone have any advice? often hear of people doing these races having never even cycled on the roads before so really keen to go for it!!
I’ve heard of cycle exchange but not sure if this would be worth it or not - thanks!! X
