Is there any difference between the Logitech product any any other IR emitter with extension cable, other than the fact that it uses a 2.5mm TS/mono-style connector?

Has anyone had difficulties or success with non-Logitech hardware?

I've received a second hand Smart Hub, but it came bare without any accessories other than the power supply.
I'm just figuring out my needs and options, and the Logitec version seems a little pricier than average.

Also, maybe it's because I'm using RIF, but I don't see anything in the side bar.
Are there any good FAQs or whatnot, outside of Logitech's support resources that anyone can recommend?

You know, the kind that talks about features, uses, (or abuses), that Logitech doesn't support?
