I’m interested in buying a set, but considering making my own. Any advice for a newbie?
Post Body

I’ve been considering getting into lock picking for a couple days now, and I have a couple sets in mind. I’ve been trying to decide between the Southourd C1500, Sparrows Spirit set, Sparrows Kick Start, Sparrows Tuxedo, and simply making my own kit.

I’m interested in primarily single pin, since that seems more fun, but would love to try raking, and want tools for it.

If I were to make my own, i’d get a short hook, medium hook, city rake, snake rake, w-rake, possibly and half diamond, and about 6 tension tools. (3 top 3 bottom?) I haven’t compiled exactly where I would get them from or anything, but it’s a start.

In the meantime, does anyone have any advice regarding the premade sets I mentioned? Which would be best for a beginner on a little bit of a budget?
