This happened to me a few days ago…
Went to Fortinos (Loblaws) and bought a few hundred dollars worth of things.
At the checkout; my payment went through (or at least I thought it did) and I left without a receipt.
I was then chased into the parking lot by an employee who said my payment didn’t go through.
I go back, I check my Apple Pay and TD banking app and can see that the payment went through.
They didn’t accept this and said they needed the payment again. So I payed again.
At this point, I am told that the amount will be refunded into my bank account within 24 hours.
I waited a few days, checked and it still shows the two payments for the same amount of groceries. Nothing refunded.
Today I go back to fortinos, with my receipt, my banking statements and Apple Pay statements and was told there is nothing they can do, and that the refund can actually take between 7-14 days.
So is Loblaws holding on to customer $ for periods of time to make interest on it?
If this happened to even 50 people at their locations per day, they could be making 1000’s in interest alone.
Has this ever happened to anyone else here?
