I’m a vocalist for a new local thrash band. I’ve had some feedback issues the last few shows at my local venue here but last night was absolutely awful. I couldn’t raise my mic or move around with it in my hand without squealing and howling permeating the whole venue. What I don’t understand is the vocalists in the other bands only had minimal feedback during their sets.

Could I be doing something wrong to cause this? The club owner told me during sound check that because I’m so tall that I might be interfering with the ceiling monitors. He told me to move away from the monitors and closer to the audience. I did this but it didn’t make a difference with the feedback. Any advice would be appreciated. I don’t want this to happen again.
