Iām an pretty decent recording engineer. I know my way around the studio and pro tools quite well. Iām in my second semester of my music audio technology program in college, and am a level equivalent to or beyond most 4th semester students. As a result of this I get recommended by classmates and professors for engineering/producing gigs, however this will be my first live sound gig. I have a few questions. 1) I know I will have to send the band monitor mixes, and I know I will be working on an old analog board. I assume this will mean I have a cue mix knob in addition to my main fader right? Are there any tips or main ideas for setting monitor mixes. I spend a lot of time mixing recorded tracks and I just wanna make sure my skills translate. 2) in a similar vein to the second part of my first question what are some things I should pay attention to as far as my main mix. Iām mainly a mix engineer and that is my overall career goal, so I am capable of making a good mix and I wanna just make sure that I could make mix ability translate to a live setting.
Thanks!
James
