Has anybody tried placing a guitar player's amp on the front of the stage, next to their monitor, facing up at them? I saw it on this Grand Ol Opry video at ~0:24, and a few other times throughout the song. Seems like a decent idea to me, seeing as (in most of my experience, at least) guitar players want more and more of themselves in their wedge. People talk all the time about how much good can come of kicking back an amp to point right at the back of the player's head, but this is actually the first time I've seen it in front of them.
Any drawbacks to this? I feel like the folks at the Opry know what they're doing, and it seems like a good idea, so I'm surprised I've never seen it before.
Thoughts? Pros? Cons?
