Connecting TG 1000 to network?

Hey y'all, If I want to connect my Beyerdynamic TG-1000 racks to a network, do I need to have a WiFi network already, or can I just create an ad hoc network on my MacBook? I have a router I can plug the racks into backstage, but I rarely have WiFi at venues. I'm pretty good with computers, but if someone could maybe give me a quick rundown of how to set it up so I can view RF status and settings and all that at FoH, that would be greeeeat. I'm guessing there is a way I can just connect to the router wirelessly without being on an existing network, right?
