Question(s) about running sound in Japan

Post Body

Hey y'all. I'm getting ready to do sound for a little tour in Japan for a the summer, and I have a few questions, mostly regarding power.

TLDR: How do I prepare for a two-prong world in Japan after being so grounded (budum-pa) to USA three-prong gear?

I've done a bit of research and found that Japan uses two-prong outlets. Pretty much all audio gear I've ever used in the US is three-prong. So does that mean that the gear we will be renting there won't be grounded? Or do larger venues/theaters still have some sort of multi-phase distro?

Also, i'm concerned about my trusty Weller 40W, which is also three-prong -- is "grounded" the technical term for that? Anyway, does anyone have any suggestion on a similar quality soldering iron that will work in Japanese outlets, or should I maybe just try to find something when I get there?

I've heard a lot of people say, "Oh, just get a three- to two-prong adapter." These people have never been shocked by a non-grounded mic. This can't be the only solution.

This sub is one of my favorites and y'all are always so helpful. If you have any general tips for overseas tours please post them as well :) Thanks!!
