  1. Orange tabbies are not a breed - tabby only refers to specific coat markings, not a breed. The word tabby is derived from a striped silk fabric originating near Baghdad.
  2. All orange cats are tabbies but not all tabbies are orange.
  3. Tabby cats get their stripes from the agouti gene
  4. There are 4 different tabby patterns.
    1. Mackerel (or striped)
    2. Classic - swirled, marbled or blotched
    3. Ticked (or stripeless) - salt and pepper appearance
    4. Spotted
  5. The orange tabby color is commonly found in American Bobtail, Bengal, Munchkin, Persian, British Shorthair, Maine Coon, Egyptian Mau, and Abyssianian cats
  6. Orange Tabbies are movie stars - to name a few... Garfield, Crookshanks from Harry Potter, Milo from Milo and Otis, Orion from Men in Black, and on and on.
