What are your favorite LitRPGs that have notably strong writing and polished editing?
I love the genre, but read quite a bit in other categories too. The varying quality of prose is jarring from one series to the next. The books and authors that invest time and effort in editors are diamonds.
Some of the stories that stand out to me that qualify include: - Dungeon Crawler Carl - Stormweaver - Ripple System - Cradle
Extra bonus points for Isekai and/or those with audiobooks.
On the other hand: - HWFWM: good prose, great world building, needs better editing (royal road syndrome) - Defiance of the Fall: Average prose, great world building, really needs an editor - Legend of Randidly Ghosthound: good prose, great world building, needs better editing
I love these three, but they're good examples of web novel sprawl or royal road syndrome. The Amazon rerelease of Randidly is a good example of how a good editing pass can really tighten up and improve the story.
