Manjaro - Alsa issue - No sound through speakers unless muted headphone channel is turned up

Specs:

x570 Aorus Master onboard sound
speakers plugged into front speaker out
Manjaro - Alsa PulseAudio (problem existed before pulse audio install so I doubt it's related)
No headphones plugged in at all

Bug: No audio coming through speakers until I go into alsamixer and change the volume on the muted headphone channel. Important to note, I don't even unmute the headphone channel, just change the value in it to get sound through my speakers.

Question: Does anyone know what is going on here and/or have a fix for the issue? My google fu has been failing me, maybe even just a few keywords to search for would help?
