fan always on.

Hi, I am running lubuntu on an Asus N53SV with an Nvidia GT 540M and the gpu fan is always on and it's very loud. I've tried several different fixes but none have worked so far. does anybody have an idea on how to fix this? I also installed manjaro and the problem persisted. Thanks for any help.
