An interesting train of thought

How many of you people think it would be a good idea to teach myself not only code but also the Linux terminal by forcing myself to use only the Linux command line built-in tools, W3M, Nano, Python, Perl, Ruby, and GCC and from there write any other tools/programs I need myself from scratch? Just had this idea and I would like some feedback.
