Advice on an eGPU for my laptop

Post Body

I have an Acer Swift 3, and while the IGPU is "fine", I am thinking about getting an eGPU to do the heavy lifting when I am at home.

My thought is to get an eGPU case and an AMD or new Intel ARC card.

I am running Linux Mint with the 5.15 kernel installed. Here are my laptop specs:

Operating System: Linux Mint 20.3

Kernerl: 5.15.0-41-generic

Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5700U with Radeon Graphics × 8 1.80 GHz

Interfaces/Ports: 1 x HDMI, 2 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C Ports

USB C: 3.2 Gen 2 (up to 10 Gbps)

DisplayPort over USB-C

USB charging 5 V; 3 A

DC-in port 19 V; 65 W

RAM: 8GB with a 16 GB swap (I need that for some games, don't question it...)

I assume this is all the specs I need, let me know if I need to supply more.

My biggest concerns are driver support and connection, as well as the OS supporting an eGPU.

Thank you for any advice.
