I held onto windows as long as I could, but I didn't want any part of 10, I side graded to "windows 9" (unofficially 8.1 embedded patched up to look like windows 7) and I had planned to run this until the shut off date but upgraded to a 3000 series nvidia card realized that nvidia still put out a driver for 7 and 10 but not 8.1 this forced me to linux early, no regrets ! been happily running linux as my main os for the biggest part of a year.
There are still things I miss like a few apps, almost all the games I want are running perfectly under steam,
I wanted advice on my annoying brother, He wants me to play call of duty with him, his friend and his friends partner and I really just don't want to.
I get stressed in competitive multiplayer games and haven't really done a proper one in years, warframe as a coop multiplayer is the closest thing has filled that gap for me, but out of curiosity I did look up COD and its none starter with wine / protron .
I tried explaining the latter but my butt hole brother but he thinks me not running windows "won't make a difference to anything" that I should cave and just install windows 10 so I can play with everyone! but I kinda feel like I escaped their grasp I don't have to telemetry or be forced to put up with another crappy microsoft update ever again!
he obviously does not "get" why I don't run windows and tries to talk around every excuse I give and thinks I should find a way to make it work, I don't want windows, I don't want an xbox and if activision can't be bothered to make their crap work on proton/linux I don't think I should bend over backwards to even try accommodate them and give the game a go?
what do ?
Is windows on usb stick is viable?
