I just installed Kubuntu 22.04 onto an old laptop to try out linux and manage my torrent downloads. I have a TrueNAS server I save all my media to, with an SMB share set up that has worked great so far with Windows machines.
Now I would just like to know how to set up qbittorrent on the laptop to save to the proper folder on the TrueNAS share, or basically how to set things up in TrueNAS to work with the laptop in general.
So far, I have added the network drive using the ip of the share ("smb://[email protected]/PLEX_MEDIA/"), which allows me all the expected permissions to view/edit files stored on the NAS. Problem is, when I point my downloads in qbittorrent toward that folder it instead saves to "/home/USERNAME/Downloads/smb:/[email protected]/PLEX_MEDIA/".
I am sure I'm not doing things properly, but when I search I am seeing a lot of directions to 'install cifs' and run a bunch of commands, which seems a little overkill just to use a shared folder on the network. I wanted to ask here in case there was an obvious way I am missing.
