How to Change EXIF data - Ubuntu

In Windows Explorer, I can simply right click a photo and change the "date taken" property or select multiple photos and change the dates en masse. How can I do that in Ubuntu.
Right now when I right click on them I see the properties but cant edit them. I have tried importing them in to Shotwell and its the same.
