Install is failing- nvidia the culprit?
Post Body

I've been trying to install some form of Linux (I've tried Ubuntu and Mint) on my new laptop, this. Booting off of either a disc or a USB, I get to the menu where it asks me if I want to try or install; selecting either gives me a black screen afterwards.

I've been trying to google the problem. It appears that it's some sort of issue with nvidia drivers from what I've seen, but editing to add nomodeset or similar things isn't making any difference. Is there a specific nvidia driver I should be adding to make this work, or is it some other issue?

The goal is to dual boot with Windows 10. Any suggestions would be helpful- please let me know if I can provide more information.

edit: I disabled secure boot. I still have the same problems- I've tried nomodeset in a number of places and it does not appear to make a difference.
