What distor / OS uses the least resources and has minimal apps?

Imma be honest, my hardware is trash.....I can´t afford a good pc, and I need one for video editing, photoshop, rendering and gaming. So i discovered that services like "Shadow PC" and VMs run 100000x faster than locally running windows, so I am looking to install the most minimal, resource-less OS, to JUST use Virtual machines as my main usage.
So for that purpose, which Distro, or even which specifc OS should i get?
