I have a Canon PIXMA MG2922. My previous experience with it on Mac is simply that I'd press the wireless button on it, pair it with my computer and print as I please. Linux allegedly has a "just works" printing experience, but system-config-printer
is completely Greek to me. I don't recognize any name in the Network Printer list and it seems to auto-detect something called a "Generic CUPS-BRF" which seems to allow me to tell it what drivers I need, but as soon as I click through and ask it to print a test page literally nothing happens.
It doesn't seem like I'm connecting to my printer at all, let alone appears in any way as though my computer is even aware of it's existence. I have no idea how to find the "device URI" or IP address of my printer and information on how to find either is nowhere to be found in the printer's manual or system-config-printer
itself. Googling only turns up posts suggesting that I have to go into the command line or enter my router settings or some other shit that most definitely doesn't "just work".
I have a Windows CD that came with the thing, but Wine doesn't like it.
