I am not a native English speaker, but live in the US. I have noticed recently that some people pronounce 'ôltəmətlē' instead of 'əltəmətlē', and it's very pronounced in the pronunciation of the word 'culture' as seen here in the 'In Culture' podcast: (culture in the first few seconds by the lady): https://podcasts.google.com/?feed=aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5zaW1wbGVjYXN0LmNvbS81Y3JEcm5lZA&episode=ODAwMTMxZjItOTk3YS00ZWQ3LWIxNzItM2JhZWViYWUxMDBj&hl=en&ved=2ahUKEwico_aV2rbnAhVFqZ4KHUPpAI0QjrkEegQIARAE&ep=6
Whereas I've heard some people say 'əltəmətlē' for 'ultimately' with the same sound as 'uh'.
Where did this originate from? Is this a relatively new thing? I haven't been able to find any references to this.
