It couldn't be any more clear that Travis hates fanship and being pestered/researched. I think we all try to ignore that fact because it's fun to be fans, especially of such an interesting and elusive figure. But is out fanhood more harmful and concerning than good?
I genuinely can't think of any artist more punk, innovative, and fascinating as Lil Ugly Mane from this past decade... maybe even of all time (and I listen to a shit ton of music), which is why I, and probably many of you guys, find him so appealing. I'm not going to lie, I'm an enormous fan of Lil Ugly Mane, and I've done my fair amount of research on him out of curiosity... But do you think fanhood and this subreddit are positive for Lil Ugly Mane and his career? In a world where everyone feels so entitled to massive amounts of information on their favorite celebrities, do you think we're actually too intrusive and being creepy?
Ugly Mane and his gang of friends have acknowledged this sub numerous times, none of them being positive. Ugly Mane calling out that time we were frantically trying to get a leak of Oblivion Access, his friend from Legacy coming on the sub to clear myths up about Lil Ugly Mane from time to time, Lee Spielman tweeting about how creepy it was when I asked about his house (I didn't realize how creepy it was at the time... I genuinely thought it could have been some hang out area in California and was curious. I felt really ashamed after he called me out on Twitter), his lyrics on Oblivion Access, and how so many photos of Ugly Mane get immediately deleted after getting posted on this sub (probably by his request). I'm sure there are other examples I can't think of. I'm pretty certain Ugly Mane is well aware of his online presence, and we're one the reasons why releasing music is so frustrating for him. I can imagine this sub being a source of jokes and concern for Ugly Mane and his group of friends. Why are we even here? Would Ugly Mane be better without us? I wish Ugly Mane would eventually tell us. I find myself feeling ashamed for being such a huge fan of his most of the time. I know I'm leaving a lot of unanswered questions, but I'm curious to hear what you guys think.
