Questions on how to use onyx at a party

Post Body

Sup guys,

So, Iā€™ve been using Onyx now for a couple of weeks and I actually quite like it. In a couple of days Iā€™m supposed to run lights at a party with around 100 guests and I am quite lost on how to set everything up.

Until now I preprogramed everything and a timecoded show but this time this wonā€™t be possible.

So my questions are:

  1. any tips on setting up views to run the show? The only hardware controller I have access to at this venue is a Novation Launchpad with buttons but sadly no faders
  2. is it worth it to have any cuelists on faders if I only have the onscreen faders?
  3. 3. Is there a way to start a cuelist with a midimacro and release it the second time I press the button? Iā€™m aware of the ā€œRelease with Goā€ option but this doesnā€™t work with midi. The cue is only active as long as the button is pressed.
  4. 4. Does anyone have a onyx showfile that I can look at the layout and cuelists as inspiration? Iā€™m still new to ā€œpro-softwareā€ and this would be really helpful
  5. 5. Iā€™ve seen the post about the color picker with midimacros on here. Could someone provide me with some tips on how to set up something similar
  6. And is there a way to change the way the colors change (e.g. a button so every time I press a color it changes from left to right. And another button so it changes from right to left and so on ).

This would be really helpful for me, thanks guys
