Powerful Set of Principles to Live By and Have an Extraordinary Life. . .
Post Body

I thought I'd share a list principles that are worth sharing with the community around how to have an extraordinary life. . .these are things that we all know on some level as well and of course, I didn't come up with them. . .but worth mentioning them as a reminder. . . I'm sharing them from my current understanding of them from experiential awareness (not just regurgitating from some book or spiritual guru). . . of course I'm still working on them and probably will be working on them until the day I die.

You could take just one of these things this lifetime and if you applied it, you couldn't help but have a far better life with a lot more peace and joy. You could write a whole book or many books on just one of the points below. . .Some great stuff here to incorporate into a coaching practice as well if working with others

  1. Having a childlike fearlessness and courageousness to try and experiment with new things - essentially being a "yes" to everything and anything as well as knowing when to stop, pivot and try something different. Most everyone seems to lose this fearlessness at some point, become very cautious, guarded, pensive or "attached" to doing things a particular way even if it is clear that it isn't working. Rediscovering this childlike mentality to try new things is something that can be cultivated once again as an adult. . .I seem to recall reading something about Einstein or Thomas Edison where they said "I'm no smarter than anyone else. . .I'm just willing to try more experiments and maybe one out of 1000 is a home run". Clearly they were someone who was willing to try everything and anything, know when to stop an experiment when it wasn't working and keep on going until something did.
  2. Putting aside one's own preferences and cultivating the ability to listen, trust and follow one's intuition and hunches in life - many will follow their hunches when it feels nice and good, but not when they get a hunch to do something that looks scary or confronting. . .even though HUGE rewards await for those who do that. One of the things you discover when you follow your intuition is that you're "taken care of" by the Universe and actually have been taken care of the Universe all along . . .how do I know - because you're still here.
  3. If you upgrade to nicer things that has your life be better, the Universe will come in and support you financially to make sure you're covered financially for those things. I can't tell you how many times personally and with others - that when they went for something that improved their life - and it could even be something like buying a nicer car or house, that the money showed up to support that and that became the new baseline (with a higher income).
  4. In relationships, look how you can be of service to the other person getting their goals met first. Often relationships look like a compromise where "I'm not going to get my goals met". What's really interesting is that if you get behind another person's goals, at some point they will want to make sure you get yours. However, it might not be prudent to keep on giving if it doesn't feel good.
  5. Get really interested in people without trying to sell them on anything or market anything to them. The biggest thing people want is for someone to listen to them, to be heard and to feel loved unconditionally. This opens up all sorts of doors in life.
  6. This is a little more nebulous but it has to do with letting go of being "attached" to our preferences. Here's a good story to exemplify this: https://thedailyzen.org/2015/03/20/zen-story-maybe/ We often don't know why things are happening. . .sometimes I'll have things like a deal that doesn't work out (where I don't get the thing I wanted and get all upset - perhaps only to realize later that maybe I dodged a bullet, or it wasn't what I was supposed to be doing or having). The Universe is far more intelligent than me at the end of the day. . .the mind is very limited in perception (and there are much much much greater games at play far beyond our pay grade to comprehend).
  7. You don't have to know all the logistics / you don't have to know the "how" . . .our job is just to say "yes" to following our hunch. It's easy for the Universe to put the right people and opportunities in front of us. . .it's hard to get people to trust and follow their intuition.
  8. Seeing that the world is working "for us" and not against us. We might not know why things are happening, but consider that things are happening for us to grow, expand and become better people at the end of the day.
  9. Find a committed listener for yourself . . .someone who listens and loves you unconditionally and thinks you're perfect just the way you are or aren't. . .Ultimately, I think that's what life coaching is all about at the end of the day. The world can be a really tough place . . .much more fun to have someone to journey through it who thinks you're spectacular just the way you are or aren't and loves you all the same. If you don't have someone like that right now, you can intend for that person to show up and they'll start coming to you.
  10. All you have to do is put awareness on things to happen. . .This is a good one for finances. . .I find if I write something down on paper and regularly review it. . .the Universe comes and fills in the gaps without me having to slug it out and make it happen all myself.
  11. Other people, circumstances and events are like a mirror to show us more aspects of ourselves that are not loving or not neutral. When we get triggered by something and have some sort of negative emotion arise (like anger, fear, sadness, etc) it's actually an opportunity in disguise to let go of these things negative emotions we carry around in life - and become more loving and compassionate. For this reason, it's best to bless everyone and everything especially ourselves (and finding ourself, others and the world "right" the way they are and aren't. . .even people and circumstances that drive us crazy (especially those) - it behooves us to bless these things. . . otherwise, the Universe will just keep on giving us more of the same that drives us crazy until willing to let go of the emotions and beliefs that don't serve us.
  12. If you want more . . .the fastest way is be grateful for everything we have all the time. . .Another spin on this is "prayer is an acknowledgment that the things we want are already on their way to us". . . I did an experiment with my young daughter years ago when she was getting upset when I didn't buy her stuff often when we went to the store. . . mostly I didn't because she wasn't playing with the toys I'd already gotten her. . .I had her write down all the things on a white board she would like to have and we put the white board away in a corner. Eight or nine months later we took out the white board again and went over the list . . .she had pretty much everything on it. I asked her "if you already knew what you wanted was on its way, wouldn't be you be delighted right now?" She got quiet after that and stopped complaining when I didn't buy her something at the store and only have to remind her infrequently now to be happy with what she already has. . .I find this is true for everyone. . .
  13. Ask "how can I be of service" and "how can I make it good for others and the world?" When we put attention on others, the attention comes off ourselves and away from our concerns, fears and worries.
